In November/December 2023, we organized the fifth edition of the Agri Plus University Scientific Conference, which focused on pig welfare and health problems. The event, held in Olsztyn, was attended by prominent experts from the world of science, presenting the latest research and solutions, including in the field of veterinary medicine.
The Agri Plus University Scientific Conference was held for the fifth time from November 29 to December 1, 2023. This year’s edition of the event was devoted to topics related to the welfare and health problems of pigs, and was co-hosted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at UWM in Olsztyn. The issue of animal welfare for our company is an absolute priority, which is why we have been investing in expanding our knowledge and exchanging experiences in this area for years. Agri Plus University is a special unit of the company that organizes conferences to which veterinarians, internationally recognized representatives of the scientific community, students, breeders, representatives of industry companies and our employees are invited.
The event was opened by vet. Rafał Niemyjski, production director for Agri Plus’ mother farms, who emphasized the importance of the conference for the development of the industry and presented the company’s innovative approach to improving animal welfare. Speakers included prominent lecturers from Poland such as Prof. Anna Rząsa, PhD, from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, Prof. Krzysztof Tomczuk, PhD, from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Prof. UWM Dr. Łukasz Zielonka representing the University of Warmia and Mazury, and foreign specialists such as PhD Lukas Schwarz from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, DVM Roman Krejci and DVM Marco de Mik.
During the conference, the most important and current health risks affecting pigs were discussed. The substantive discussion revolved around possible solutions and concerned the latest methods of prevention and treatment of diseases in both piglets and fattening pigs.
It is worth noting that this year’s edition was held in close didactic cooperation with the University of Warmia and Mazury and attracted great interest. We are confident that through joint efforts we will be able to more effectively counteract pig health problems and support the sustainable development of the industry.
We are already confirming that the 6th UAP conference will be held in 2024, the date of which we will inform you soon.
