Last weekend (October 2, 2021), in cooperation with the District Office in Kętrzyn, we organized an event aimed at strengthening environmental awareness. According
in line with our policy of sustainable development, we focus on the education of children and youth.
The action took place on the beach in Czerniki, where students of the first class of biology and chemistry from the 1st Secondary School in Kętrzyn had the opportunity to study the water of Lake Moje. The activities were related to the international action The EarthEcho Water Challenge and the World Water Monitoring Day, which is an opportunity to broaden the knowledge of young people and check the quality of water in local reservoirs. Students, under the care of Anna Iwanicka – Pawłowicz, a specialist in quality and environmental protection and Bartłomiej Matysiak, manager for quality and environmental protection Agri Plus, monitored water temperature, oxygenation, pH and turbidity. At the request of the young people, the study was carried out twice. The students also expressed their willingness to participate in the presentation on cereals conducted by Dominika Piłat, Agri Plus quality department manager, during which they had the opportunity to recognize different cereals and learn more about their use.
For younger children, we organized a drawing competition for the most beautiful pig. All drawings were awarded. Refreshments were available for all picnic participants.
Parallel to our action, the cleaning of the surrounding forests was carried out, in which the Forest Inspectorates and the Hunting Circles of the Polish Hunting Association were involved.
Such events show that children and youth are more willing to engage in actions for environmental protection, which are combined with gaining reliable knowledge!
